September 8, London (BNA): Counselor Talal Ibrahim Al Absi, a diplomat with the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Embassy to the United Kingdom, was elected President during elections held by the Young Diplomats in London (YDL) to create its new executive team. This made him the first diplomat from the Gulf to be elected to the position since the association’s founding seventeen years ago.

By planning social and cultural events, fostering intercultural understanding, and assisting new diplomats in assimilating into the political, social, and cultural landscape of the UK, the association was founded in 2008 with the goal of strengthening ties between young members of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited to the UK.

The active participation of Bahrain’s diplomats in formal and informal events in London, as well as the trust placed in them by diplomats from partner and allied governments, are reflected in Bahrain’s assumption of the presidency.

Al Absi also conveyed gratitude to young Arab members of the YDL and congratulated Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, the ambassador of Bahrain to the UK and the dean of the Arab Diplomatic Corps, for his assistance.
