Dubai, Nov. 20 (BNA): The Muharraq Ring Road project, which opened to traffic in December 2024, earned the Ministry of Works the 2025 MEED International Award for the Best Roads Project. At the 2025 MEED Projects Awards ceremony in the United Arab Emirates, the project was chosen by the judging panel as the finest roads project in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) area.
Works Ministry wins MEED Award for Muharraq Ring Road as Best Roads Project in MENA
The Ministry highlighted the work of the project teams and its dedication to using high engineering standards in the planning, execution, and management of infrastructure projects, expressing pride in this regional recognition. The accomplishment demonstrates the Ministry’s commitment to globally accepted project management techniques, improves the quality of the road network and services, and is consistent with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 and sustainable development.
Assistant Undersecretary for Roads Ahmed Sami Al Tajer, Director of Road Projects and Maintenance Directorate Hamad Ibrahim Badaw, Head of Strategic Planning and Project Management Bassam Malallah, and members of the project team who helped complete it in accordance with the highest international engineering standards made up the Ministry’s delegation to accept the award.
The Ministry entered two projects in the 15th edition of the awards: the Janabiya Highway Expansion Project, which fell under the Small Projects category, and the Muharraq Ring Road, which fell under the Roads Project category. After winning at the national level, both projects were eligible to compete at the regional level.
