Supreme Council for Environment announces lifting seasonal fishing ban on Safi, Shaari, Andag
The Council stated that the action is a component of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s continuous initiatives to protect marine resources, advance environmental sustainability, restore ecosystems, and expand the variety and quantity of marine species offered in regional markets.
It stated that the resolution prohibits fishing for Emperor (Shaari), rabbitfish (Safi), and seabream (Andag) in Bahrain’s territorial seas in April and May of each year. If fishermen unintentionally capture certain species during the prohibited time, they must swiftly release them back into the sea while making sure they are safe.
