Manama, Oct. 1 (BNA): Minister of Social Development and Chairman of the National Committee for the Elderly Osama bin Saleh Alalawi confirmed that the October 1 International Day of Older Persons is a time to honor the vital roles that older people play in supporting their families, communities, and country.

He emphasized that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and with the backing of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, places a high value on the well-being of senior citizens by enacting innovative national laws and policies that guarantee their safety, well-being, and ongoing engagement in society.
By establishing community partnerships, running daycare centers for parents throughout the governorates, and offering social and recreational programs that improve family and social ties, the Ministry of Social Development is continuing to advance its efforts to support older people, the minister said. In order to accommodate their changing demands, he continued, the ministry is dedicated to expanding the array of services offered to senior residents.
Alalawi emphasized that taking care of the elderly is a national duty that embodies the commitment and solidarity of Bahraini society. He reaffirmed the ministry’s dedication to collaborating with a range of partners to improve care services in accordance with global best practices.
