In front of several Their Excellencies ministers and high-ranking officials, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa appointed His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, to present the winners of the fifth edition of the King Hamad Award for Youth Empowerment to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

As the first award specifically dedicated to empowering youth in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, the award has become a landmark and a pioneering international initiative,” stated HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad. His Highness pointed out that the Kingdom of Bahrain’s standing as a global leader in youth empowerment and development pathways has been strengthened by His Majesty the King’s support for Bahraini and international youth. His Highness also praised the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, for supporting youth initiatives and making sure that young cadres are developed through a variety of programs.
Youth involvement in attaining sustainable development goals, according to HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad, is a message of renewed hope and conscious responsibility for the future. Young people have demonstrated their capacity to transform obstacles into opportunities and provide creative solutions and doable projects that have a noticeable impact both locally and globally, demonstrating leadership, creativity, and dedication to their communities and the wider world.
In order to integrate national and international efforts in empowering youth, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad expressed profound gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its ongoing support and to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for its successful strategic partnership. In order to guarantee the legitimacy and equity of the assessment procedure, His Highness also praised the efforts of the preliminary and higher judging panels, praising their dedication to the highest professional standards as well as the values of openness and honesty.
Reiterating that the award will continue to strengthen youth contributions to sustainable development and enable them to spearhead good change, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad wished the awardees more success and a more promising and successful future for Bahraini and global youth.
In his speech, UNDP Representative Manal Fouani praised the program’s nearly 50-year partnership with the Kingdom of Bahrain in promoting institutional, economic, social, and environmental development pathways and expressed the program’s pride in attending the King Hamad Award ceremony.
She emphasized that the award has represented the Kingdom of Bahrain’s dedication to empowering young people and coordinating its initiatives with the Sustainable Development Goals since its inception in 2017. She pointed out that the award’s broad worldwide participation is a result of the strong collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs to create it and bolster its global visibility.

HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad honored the winners and participants of the preliminary and higher judging panels at the ceremony’s end. The following were the outcomes:
First: Category for Youth
Zain Ali Siddiqui of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan received the Planet Award.
Republic of Benin’s Ange-Marie Nicodeme Esse received the Peace Award.
Oliver Mwalongo of the United Republic of Tanzania received the People Award.
Juan Pierre Pierre of the Republic of Mauritius received the Prosperity Award.
Second: Youth Supporters Category
Grant: Republic of India’s Ashraya Initiative for Children
Bahrain Commercial Facilities Company, Kingdom of Bahrain, received an institutional award.
Sultanate of Oman’s National University for Science and Technology received the Technical and Digital Award.
