The program enables residents outside the Kingdom to electronically submit applications for passport replacement, according to Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA). He clarified that instead of sending the old passport for cancellation, the new passport is issued and the old one is cancelled at a Bahraini embassy or consulate overseas, streamlining processes and cutting down on time, effort, and expense.

He pointed out that only foreign nationals are eligible for the service and that applications are handled directly by diplomatic missions, negating the need to visit service locations within the Kingdom.

The service is a component of the ministry’s initiatives to increase digital services and improve transaction processing efficiency and flexibility, Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman continued. He said the process of replacing a passport can be finished in little more than seven business days.

Additionally, he noted that a contract with DHL Express has helped to provide individuals all over the world with a safe and dependable passport and document delivery service, enabling passport renewal and replacement services and drastically cutting down on processing times.
