Manama, Oct. 28 (BNA): The juvenile-sentences facility in Al Hidd and the Dry Dock Detention Center were inspected by a delegation from the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR).
NIHR delegation visits juvenile detention centre
In order to provide the necessary suggestions to the relevant authorities, the delegation examined the living conditions and accommodations for prisoners, visited with a number of remanded and sentenced minors in various buildings, listened to their wishes, and documented their observations.
This visit is a component of the NIHR‘s monitoring and rights-based role, which aims to guarantee that all detainees in rehabilitation and correctional facilities receive their rights as guaranteed by applicable laws, rules, and systems, in accordance with pertinent international human rights standards, and in accordance with the broad authority granted to the institution by its founding law.
