Manama, Sep. 2 (BNA): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has verified that it has successfully arranged for the return of thirty Bahraini nationals, the most of whom are families and children, who encountered an emergency situation overseas as a result of a local travel agency’s breach of its agreement with a hotel.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Chief of Consular Services, Ambassador Ibrahim Mohammed Al Muslimani, stated that after receiving a report on the incident, the ministry promptly coordinated with the Kingdom of Bahrain’s embassy in the affected nation to take the required actions, which included offering assistance and making sure the citizens returned home the next day.

The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) emphasized that in order to guarantee compliance by establishments in the tourism sector, its tourism monitoring directorate took the necessary legal actions in accordance with the tourism law. In compliance with relevant laws and public interest standards, the judicial authorities promptly liquidated the unlicensed travel agency and submitted its owner to the Public Prosecution. The BTEA stated that the agency was in flagrant violation of the Authority’s requirements and regulations by failing to fulfill its responsibilities, which had an impact on several citizens.

In order to protect their rights and steer clear of such circumstances, the ministry and the BTEA both recommended citizens to confirm the legitimacy and reputation of travel agents and to make sure they only do business with authorized and licensed businesses.
