Manama, Sep. 5 (BNA): Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa gave a speech in honor of the International Day of Police Cooperation, which is celebrated on September 7 every year.
Interior Minister: Bahrain committed to enhancing international police cooperation
According to the minister, Bahrain is joining the rest of the globe in commemorating the event because it believes that global coordination and thorough collaboration strengthen our combined ability to fight crime and advance global safety and security.
In order to effectively contribute to strengthening security cooperation in all domains, he said, the Ministry of Interior is working to advance these efforts under the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the follow-up of the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
According to General Shaikh Rashid, modern security issues are becoming more and more cross-border, necessitating increased collaboration, information sharing, and expertise sharing in addition to the employment of cutting-edge technology and artificial intelligence to fight organized crime. He emphasized how crucial it is to speed up information sharing and improve collaboration within the INTERPOL framework and in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN.
He reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to supporting cooperative efforts under the United Nations and its specialized offices concerned with combating cross-border crime and his gratitude for INTERPOL’s professional efforts in assisting police forces throughout the world.
The minister emphasized Bahrain’s accomplishments in this area, which include the capture and extradition of nine people on the international wanted list and the release of 17 fugitives from custody to nations that have made requests. Based on international intelligence, the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science arrested four people at border crossings in possession of drugs, carried out 18 operations with seven countries, and shared more than 97 pieces of information with 12 countries in the fight against drugs.
He noted that the Financial Intelligence National Center shared more than 96 pieces of information with different nations in the fight against money laundering and terrorism funding.
In order to lower crime rates and improve global security, the minister reaffirmed Bahrain‘s commitment to bolstering international police cooperation through the fight against transnational crime, information sharing and analysis, and fortifying INTERPOL partnerships with other nations.
