Manama, Jan. 31 (BNA): The players and technical and administrative staff of the Kingdom of Bahrain national handball team were welcomed by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at Al Safriya Palace on the occasion of their victory in the Asian Handball Championship, which was held in the State of Kuwait and marked the first title for Bahraini handball.

His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Personal Representative of His Majesty the King; His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs; and His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee all attended the reception.
His Majesty praised the national team’s performance, discipline, and sportsmanship during the competition and congratulated them on their accomplishment. The title, according to His Majesty, is a reflection of Bahraini handball’s advanced level and the ongoing development of national sports.
His Majesty praised the work of the Bahrain Handball Federation, headed by Ali Isa Ishaqi, as well as the technical and administrative staff for their planning and organization, as well as the efforts of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa in promoting sports and youth development.
His Majesty also challenged the players to keep up their level and keep aiming for more victory in forthcoming contests, praising the Bahraini supporters whose presence and encouragement contributed to the team’s triumph.
In acknowledgment of the accomplishment and their role in elevating Bahrain’s stature on the continent, His Majesty ordered that housing units be given to members of the national handball team.
The technical and administrative staff, as well as the members of the national handball team, thanked His Majesty the King for the ongoing support, pointing out that this kind of recognition is a powerful motivator to strive for more success and represent the Kingdom with distinction. Additionally, they thanked HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad and HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad for their support during the competition and outside events.
