Manama, Jan. 26 (BNA): In accordance with the goals of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the orders of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, emphasized the Kingdom’s dedication to moving towards a more sustainable and effective energy system. He stated that the Kingdom continues to work toward its lofty goals in order to provide a sustainable future for future generations.
Electricity Minister highlights Bahrain’s commitment to clean energy transition
He stated that International Clean Energy Day, which is celebrated on January 26 every year, emphasizes the significance of clean energy and sustainability pathways in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals and Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
Given its crucial role in lowering carbon emissions, enhancing resource-use efficiency, and promoting sustainable economic growth, the minister clarified that clean energy constitutes a fundamental pillar of comprehensive development. In addition to boosting efforts to meet its stated goal of being carbon neutral by 2060, he pointed out that the Kingdom continues to align its national programs and policies with worldwide best practices and standards.
In order to increase the use of clean and renewable energy sources, promote innovation and the adoption of contemporary technological solutions, and fortify relationships with regional and global organizations, he continued, the Ministry of Electricity and Water Affairs has initiated a number of initiatives and strategic projects. Expertise sharing, national capacity building, increased energy efficiency, better resource management, and decreased losses are all facilitated by these initiatives.
In order to improve energy efficiency and promote long-term environmental goals, Minister Humaidan emphasized that the shift to clean energy is a shared national responsibility that calls for coordinated efforts and the adoption of sustainable practices.
