Manama, Mar. 5 (BNA): The Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) will take part in a coordination meeting with its Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) counterparts next Sunday to discuss mechanisms for joint action and to ensure full preparedness to deliver relief and humanitarian assistance in light of the blatant Iranian attacks targeting the Kingdom of Bahrain and the states of the GCC.
BRCS continues relief, humanitarian duties amid Iranian attacks
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies’ regional delegation invited the meeting, which is being held in support of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s admirable humanitarian goals and in accordance with GCC-wide initiatives.
The BRCS is still organizing volunteers and resources for the “Bahrain is Well” campaign. “Because You Are Its People” sought to bolster domestic initiatives to counter Iranian encroachment. In the areas of first aid, psychosocial support, relief operations, and humanitarian response, the Society makes use of its vast experience as well as its network of qualified employees and volunteers.
There are volunteer opportunities in a number of important sectors, most notably the health sector, which supports ambulance and medical teams; the engineering sector, which offers technical help and site evaluations; and the logistics sector, which secures supplies and oversees transportation and storage activities. The mobilization structure includes administrative and supervisory positions as well as additional specializations as needed.
The Secretary General of the BRCS, Mubarak Al Hadi, confirmed that in order to fulfill the present humanitarian needs, the Society has put all of its resources and field knowledge on high alert. He emphasized that all parties involved in relief and humanitarian efforts must work together in a way never seen before due to the regional concerns.
In full coordination with partners throughout the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and with international organizations, he continued, the Society’s responsibility goes beyond the provision of logistical and emergency medical help to include the construction of a comprehensive volunteer system capable of prompt reaction to any disaster. He pointed out that this strengthens the Bahrain Red Crescent Society’s position and function as a preeminent national humanitarian organization.
