November 12, Manama (BNA): During his visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Waleed Shamlān Al Bahar, Acting Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, met with Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy. During the visit, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development and the Bahraini government signed a financing deal to fund the development of a 220 and 66 kV electrical transmission network.

Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, President of the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), was present at the meeting.

Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa highlighted the long-standing ties between the Kingdom and Kuwait, which are still growing in a number of areas under the direction of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, Amir of Kuwait.

Additionally, he emphasized the dedication of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to improving infrastructure and comprehensive development in accordance with urban and economic expansion, supporting national aspirations, and benefiting everyone.

The Finance Minister praised Kuwait’s dedication to strengthening collaboration in social and economic development through the Kuwait Fund.

He reiterated the Kingdom’s commitment to maintain close cooperation with the Kuwait Fund and to expand economic partnerships that serve common interests and strengthen brotherly ties between the two countries, adding that Bahrain places a high priority on building its infrastructure and establishing the conditions necessary to spur economic growth.

According to Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, signing this deal is a part of continuous efforts to modernize and develop Bahrain’s electrical infrastructure in order to meet national development objectives. In order to satisfy rising energy demand and promote urban and economic growth across sectors, he pointed out that the energy Transmission Network Development Project is a crucial strategic effort that would enhance network efficiency and dependability.

In keeping with the close and long-standing brotherly ties between Bahrain and Kuwait, he expressed gratitude for the Kuwait Fund’s contributions to economic development and emphasized the need of ongoing cooperation.
