October 10, Abu Dhabi (BNA): The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) hosted the 2025 World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi from October 9–15, and Mohammed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, Minister of Environment and Oil and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, attended.

In order to address climate change, biodiversity loss, and the transition to a sustainable green economy, the minister emphasized the importance of this Congress edition. He emphasized that Bahrain’s involvement demonstrates the Kingdom’s dedication to the 2030 Global Biodiversity Framework, the Sustainable Development Goals, and the Paris Agreement.
Bin Daina presented Bahrain’s accomplishments in biodiversity conservation and environmental preservation. He emphasized the Kingdom’s advancements in the restoration of marine and coastal ecosystems as well as creative national projects like the “Mangroves of Bahrain” program, which aims to increase mangrove cover and improve carbon sequestration. Additional initiatives include extensive animal and protected area conservation programs, the growth of green areas, and extensive afforestation projects. For the benefit of future generations, these projects are an important part of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, which reflects a long-term commitment to striking a balance between development and environmental care.
Citing programs like the National Afforestation Plan and the “Mangroves of Bahrain” initiative, which together enhance biodiversity protection and sustainable resource management, the minister also expressed pleasure in Bahrain’s leadership in ecosystem restoration and climate resilience.

Bin Daina toured the United Arab Emirates pavilion to examine innovative environmental initiatives, such as the UAE’s use of drones and robotics to plant mangroves and national initiatives to protect coastal ecosystems and advance marine sustainability.
