Manama, April 2 (BNA): Board members and invited authorities attended the Higher Education Council’s (HEC) regular meeting, which was presided over by Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

The council granted Bahrain Specialist Hospital’s request to change the terms pertaining to the creation of a private higher education institution under the name “Specialised Institute for Health Sciences” after reviewing the implementation of decisions made at its last meeting.

Based on reports from the council’s General Secretariat, the council also examined applications from universities and made the following decisions:

First: Applications for academic programs:

The addition of two tracks to the Master of Business Administration program—finance and banking and marketing and business administration—was approved by the Royal University for Women.

The introduction of a Master of Laws program with four tracks—public law, private law, commercial arbitration, and law and technology—was approved by the Royal University for Women.

The Royal University for Women’s bid to host a Master’s program in big data and business analytics from the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom was approved.

Acceptance of the Arab Open University’s proposal to collaborate with the Open University in the UK to offer a Master of Business Administration program.

London South Bank University in the United Kingdom has granted permission for Applied Science University to host a master’s program in building project management.

approval of Gulf University’s proposal to launch an electrical engineering bachelor’s program.

approval of the Royal University for Women’s proposal to launch a three-track bachelor’s program in business administration: financial technology, entrepreneurship and innovation, and digital marketing and social media.

approval of the Royal University for Women’s proposal to launch a four-track Bachelor of Arts in design program: fine arts, interior landscaping, fashion design, and visual communication.

Second: Requests for appointments:

Acceptance of Dr. Esra Saleh Al Dhaen’s appointment as Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs at Ahlia University.
Due to unfulfilled regulatory criteria, the council also decided to postpone reviewing a number of proposals that higher education institutions had submitted for additional research.
