September 7, Manama (BNA): As part of the government’s efforts to embrace smart and innovative solutions, the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with stc Bahrain to open the Kingdom’s first digital bus station. This groundbreaking move solidifies the Kingdom’s position as a regional leader in smart and sustainable urban mobility.

The opening of the Kingdom’s first digital bus station is a major turning point in the growth of Bahrain’s transportation industry, according to Fatima Abdullah Al Dhaen, Undersecretary of Land Transport and Post at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications. In accordance with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goal 11, she emphasized that the project enhances the Kingdom’s vision for more sustainable cities and communities, increases reliance on cutting-edge digital solutions, and offers passengers an improved experience.
“The opening of Bahrain’s first digital bus stop represents a strategic investment in the Kingdom’s transportation infrastructure and economic future, going beyond a simple technological advancement. By providing intelligent, connected, and sustainable mobility solutions that benefit the populace, bolster infrastructure, and boost national competitiveness, we are pleased to support the government’s digital transformation agenda as Bahrain’s primary digital enabler, said Shaikh Zeyad bin Faisal Al Khalifa, Chief Government Affairs Officer at stc Bahrain.
By facilitating a data-driven approach to public transportation planning, enhancing service dependability, and supporting the sustainability of the national economy, the stc Digital Bus Station will act as a model for future smart transport hubs throughout the Kingdom. The program also shows how the public and commercial sectors are actively working together to boost Bahrain‘s overall growth.
