Manama, Oct. 26 (BNA): The road development project connecting to Bahrain International Airport, Phase 3A, has begun its major construction, according to Minister of Works Ibrahim bin Hassan Al Hawaj. He emphasized that the goal of this important government project is to increase the effectiveness of the road system, guaranteeing simple access to the airport and its amenities as well as efficient traffic flow.

According to Minister Al Hawaj, the project will improve the Muharraq Governorate’s infrastructure by easing traffic on the Arad and Khalifa Al Kabeer highways, satisfying the demands of the populace as well as urbanization and population increase. He went on to say that it is in line with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals.
According to the Works Minister, Phase 3A at the Falcon Intersection entails complete improvements, including the rehabilitation of the intersection and portions of the Arad and Khalifa Al Kabeer highways. He mentioned that the project entails improving the Arad highway’s current waterway and building a new free left-turn bridge on the Khalifa Al Kabeer highway where it intersects with the Arad highway.
Along with a contemporary stormwater drainage system that complies with approved engineering and environmental standards, the project also incorporates landscaping and attractiveness.
The ministry’s commitment to easing traffic and enhancing key route flow was emphasized by Minister Al Hawaj. After completion, it is anticipated that the intersection’s capacity will increase from 5,250 to about 16,000 cars per hour.
The Minister went on to say that the project, which cost 26 million Bahraini dinars and was funded by the Saudi Fund for Development, was given to a group of Nas Contracting (Bahrain) and Nassir Hazza and Brothers (Saudi Arabia) by the Tender Board.
In previous stages, the VIP roundabout was changed to a signalized circular crossroads, Road 2403 across from the new airport building was rebuilt, and it was widened to three lanes plus a service road.
