Nov. 26, Manama (BNA): The refurbished neonatal critical care unit at Salmaniya Medical Complex was inaugurated by Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health. Government Hospitals’ strategy to improve service readiness and offer children an advanced care environment includes the restoration and improvement.

The Minister of Health, Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hasan, was present.

Government Hospitals officials briefed Lt. Gen. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah on the development stages, which included expanding capacity, improving workflows to improve care quality and response times for critical cases, upgrading the infrastructure, and outfitting the unit with cutting-edge specialized critical-care equipment.

The renovation of the newborn intensive care unit, according to the SCH Chairman, is a crucial milestone in advancing pediatric healthcare in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He stated that the project is a part of larger initiatives to raise the standard of care at Salmaniya Medical Complex and increase the caliber of medical services offered to locals and people.

On her part, Dr. Mariam Adhbi Al Jalahma, CEO of Government Hospitals, said the refurbished facility will provide high-quality care for newborns who require intensive care, in line with worldwide standards.

She noted that the development underscores Government Hospitals’ commitment to modernising medical facilities and improving staff capabilities in line with the national health strategy and patient demands, supporting efforts to improve patient experience and service quality.

In order to stay up to date with medical advancements and guarantee safe, high-quality services, Dr. Al Jalahma added that Government Hospitals will maintain carrying out additional development projects across several departments.

The unit’s capacity was expanded to 28 beds, improving its capacity to offer cutting-edge neonatal treatment. In order to provide a secure setting for infants and their families, six isolation rooms with all the necessary infection control equipment were also added.
