October 4, Kuwait (BNA): Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hasan, the Minister of Health, met with Dr. Ahmad Al Awadhi, the Minister of Health of the State of Kuwait, on the fringes of the 88th (50th session) meeting of the GCC Health Ministers’ Council and the 11th meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries’ Health Ministers.
Bahrain, Kuwait sign MoU to enhance health cooperation
In a way that promotes Gulf health integration and serves common interests, the meeting emphasized the close ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Kuwait as well as their expanding collaboration in a number of areas, most notably the health sector.
The two parties talked about ways to advance their bilateral health cooperation by exchanging best practices and knowledge in fields such illness prevention, public health system building, and primary healthcare. They also talked about potential collaborations in capacity building, health training, and growing alliances in medical technology and pharmaceuticals.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen health cooperation between the two nations was signed by the two ministers during the meeting. The MoU intends to harmonize positions on regional and global health concerns, improve cooperation in preventative and curative health services, and twin healthcare institutions. Cooperation in public health initiatives, the fight against infectious and non-communicable illnesses, and the exchange of knowledge about environmental health, climate change, and the One Health approach are all covered.
The MoU also covers the use of digital health and contemporary technologies, as well as collaboration in health worker professional development, training, and capacity building. It encourages cooperation in telemedicine, health insurance systems, and comprehensive healthcare, as well as increasing training options for Bahraini medical professionals and collaborating with the Kuwait Institute for Medical Specializations. In order to guarantee drug security, it also promotes pharmaceutical collaboration and school health growth.
The MoU’s signature demonstrates the parties’ mutual desire to strengthen their strategic collaboration in the health sector, support sustainable health development, and improve Gulf cooperation in tackling present and upcoming health issues.
