Manama, Oct. 20 (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and the Representative of His Majesty the King for Youth Affairs and Humanitarian Work, saw Omani boats dominate the popular rowing competition for the cup.

Captain Hamid Salem Al Bahri’s Omani vessel “Belarab” won the 3000-meter race. The Omani vessel “Ahd Oman,” commanded by skipper Hamoud Salem Al Bahri, came in third place, while “Bahrain’s Eisar” 1, controlled by skipper Abdullah Khalifa Al Hadi, came in second. The eighth Nasser bin Hamad Marine Heritage Season race was the third race in this event.

One of the top events honoring Bahrain’s rich maritime heritage is the ninth edition of the Nasser bin Hamad Season for Marine Heritage Sports. The season features a series of championships and sea races held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

This season’s well-liked rowing events also featured two important races for the Heritage Cup and His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa cups. Skippers and sailors from Bahrain and other GCC nations participated in large numbers in the events, demonstrating the growing interest in this age-old sport that continues to be a source of pride in Bahrain‘s nautical heritage and sense of national identity.
