October 22, Manama (BNA): The 3rd Asian Youth Games will begin with an opening ceremony on Wednesday, October 22nd, under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The Kingdom of Bahrain is hosting the third Asian Youth Games through October 31.
Under patronage of HM King, Bahrain to host opening ceremony of 3rd Asian Youth Games
In addition to officially launching the third edition of the Asian Youth Games, the opening ceremony will be the first of its kind to take place indoors, marking a significant milestone in the history of Asian multi-sport events. This change is a forward-thinking approach to the staging of athletic ceremonies throughout the continent and breaks with the long-standing custom of outdoor stadium venues.
The event will start at 7:00 p.m. at Exhibition World Bahrain in Sakhir. Prominent members of the regional and global sports community, as well as participating delegations, will be present, together with representatives from 45 Asian National Olympic Committees and a large audience.
The ceremony will include an artistic program that combines aspects of Bahrain’s cultural heritage with modern performance. It will tell the Kingdom’s history through a number of imaginative segments, ranging from its prehistoric beginnings to its current evolution, presented in a way that strikes a balance between tradition and contemporary expression. In keeping with the ideals that sport and cross-cultural interaction continue to foster throughout Asia, the performance will also showcase a sense of harmony and collaboration.
The program will include a series of activities that will officially begin when the patron of the ceremony arrives and the military police enter. Then, Bahrain‘s national song will be played. After then, there will be a countdown to the Games’ opening, followed by the Parade of Nations and artistic acts.
Following formal statements, the most iconic and eagerly awaited moment will take place: the hoisting of the Games flag and the lighting of the Asian flame, which will stay lighted during the competition. On Bahraini soil, this flame will endure as a permanent representation of ardor, aspiration, and the spirit of challenge that unites the young of the continent.
