Nov. 10, Manama (BNA): Nunzio Quacquarelli, the founder and co-chairman of the UK-based Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), one of the top quality of education rankings and higher education quality development organizations in the world, presented Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Higher Education Council (HEC).

The HEC and QS signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the conference. Dr. Ashwin Fernandes, CEO of QS, and Dr. Diana Al Jahromi, Secretary-General of the HEC, signed the Memorandum of Understanding.
The Minister emphasized that signing the Memorandum of Understanding is in line with the HEC’s initiatives to improve the Kingdom’s higher education institutions’ competitiveness and broaden international collaboration with worldwide knowledge of university ranking systems. He pointed out that this collaboration is a significant step toward enhancing national higher education institutions’ institutional and research capabilities and bolstering their global footprint.
He clarified that the MoU encompasses a variety of areas of collaboration, such as strengthening institutional performance and global rankings, developing capacity in higher education institutions, and working together on international promotional projects in collaboration with esteemed academic institutions.
According to Quacquarelli, the collaboration is a significant step toward improving academic performance’s quality and transparency as well as growing the network of international cooperation for universities.
