Bahrain joined Arab nations in commemorating Arab Meteorology Day, which was conducted with the theme “Meteorology… for human safety and global sustainability.” Manama, September 15, (BNA).
Transportation Minister highlights Bahrain’s role as regional hub for meteorology
The Arab Meteorology Day emphasizes how meteorological services help sustainable development and save lives and property by providing precise forecasts and early warnings.
Transportation and Telecommunications Minister Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa emphasized Bahrain’s dedication to enhancing environmental sustainability and human safety, pointing out that the ministry is collaborating on global projects like “Early Warnings for All” and modernizing meteorological systems with cutting-edge satellites, radars, and artificial intelligence.
In addition to being the Regional OPMET Center for aviation information backup, Bahrain has been home to the WMO Inter-Regional Representative Office for the Arab Region (IOAR) since 2005, making it a center for Arab cooperation, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed emphasized.
In order to guarantee prompt alerts and more accurate forecasts, Bahrain is updating its satellite systems and alert mechanisms, the Transportation Minister continued, while also investing in digital transformation and international collaboration in meteorology and climate.
