Several members will participate in the council’s examination of the committee’s suggested response, which will be presided over by Jamal Mohamed Fakhro, First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council.

The report of the Foreign Affairs, Defense, and National Security Committee regarding a draft law endorsing the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Convention for Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Cooperation will also be discussed by members. The treaty aims to prevent and punish crimes related to corruption, recover illegal assets, and improve law enforcement authorities’ collaboration through information sharing and investigations.

The committee suggested that the convention be approved, pointing out that it helps national legislative growth, upholds Bahrain’s commitment to fighting corruption, and is in line with the country’s Vision 2030 objectives. Additionally, it stated that the agreement enhances institutional and professional capacity in anti-corruption efforts by fostering technical cooperation, training, and expertise sharing among OIC Member States.

The Public Utilities and Environment Committee’s report on a proposed law that would change the Property Rent Law’s provisions will also be discussed by the Shura Council. The committee came to the conclusion that, given the extensive provisions already in place, the proposed modification is superfluous and that the current statute adequately governs the relationship between landlords and tenants, maintaining balanced rights and obligations.
