Manama, April 3 (BNA): At the invitation of UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, Ambassador Shaikh Abdulla bin Ali Al Khalifa, Director General of Bilateral Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, took part in a videoconference ministerial meeting with over 40 nations to discuss developments concerning the Strait of Hormuz.

In light of the continued hostilities, Iranian attacks against several nations in the region, and the growing threats to international navigation via the Strait of Hormuz, participants in the conference examined the most recent developments. It was emphasized how crucial this canal is to global trade, energy security, and marine stability. The ensuing ramifications and their effects on regional and global security and the economy were also discussed at the summit.

The participants also praised Security Council Resolution 2817, which was introduced under the leadership of the Kingdom of Bahrain and received unprecedented international support. They stressed the significance of enhancing international coordination and cooperation in order to address current issues and guarantee the seamless flow of international trade in compliance with international laws and norms.

In order to strengthen the joint international response in a way that promotes security and stability in the region and protects the interests of the international community, participants emphasized at the end of the meeting the necessity of ongoing consultation among the concerned nations.

Acting Chief of the European Affairs Sector Shaikha Alanood bint Ebrahim Al Khalifa also attended the conference.
