Dec. 9, Manama (BNA): A new feature for ID Card & Civil Records, Birth & Death, and Building & Establishment Address services has been added to the “Virtual Customer Service Center” on the Information & eGovernment Authority’s (iGA) corporate website (iga.gov.bh). One of the new features is the ability to use the BenefitPay app to scan a QR code and perform direct payment transactions during a virtual video conference.

iGA adds enhanced feature to Virtual Customer Service Center

In accordance with directives from General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information & Communications Technology (MCICT), this improvement is a reflection of the iGA’s continuous efforts to broaden digital services and assist Bahrain‘s digital transformation.

This new feature, according to Shaikh Sabah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, iGA Director of Identity & Population Registry, is an addition to the iGA services offered by the virtual Customer Service Center. These services include issuing, renewing, or replacing ID cards; updating civil records information; updating residential addresses; and issuing, amending, or replacing lost birth and death certificates. “The aim is to support citizens and residents with difficulties in dealing with digital services to complete their transactions entirely virtually through live video communication, offering a more seamless services and convenient customer experience” , said Shaikh Sabah bin Hamad.

Shaikh Subah bin Hamad stated that in order to take use of these services, customers can schedule a virtual video conversation with an iGA customer service representative by visiting the Virtual Customer Service Center via the iGA’s corporate website (iga.gov.bh). After that, the user receives a link to Microsoft Teams, which allows for direct video conversation with the service representative to complete the transaction.

For those with hearing impairments, the center also provides sign language assistance via direct video calls with an agent on the WhatsApp platform. This service, which is open Sunday through Thursday from 8 AM to 4 PM, enables customers to speak with customer support agents directly and get specialized help that suits their needs.

For ID card, address, and civil status services, the iGA urges citizens and residents to utilize the virtual Service Center. Users can use the National Suggestions and Complaints System (Tawasul) and its mobile app, follow the iGA’s official social media pages @iGAbahrain, or call the Government Services Contact Center at 80008001 for additional information.
