Manama, Oct. 21 (BNA): The Ministry of Health carried out a field evaluation of the fundamental capabilities for carrying out the International Health Regulations (IHR) at Bahrain International Airport (BIA) in collaboration with the Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC) General Secretariat.
Bahrain International Airport passes IHR core capacity risk assessment
In order to improve the airport’s preparedness to address health hazards at border crossings, the assessment was conducted in collaboration with Bahrain Airport Company and pertinent port authorities, with participation from the GCC Committee for IHR Implementation and Bahrain’s IHR team.
With a high rating that reflects the effectiveness and quality of its services, as well as continuous efforts to improve national health security and guarantee adherence to World Health Organization (WHO) regulations, BIA was able to pass the core capacity risk assessment for border entry points.
In addition to field visits, group discussions, and interviews with pertinent teams, the evaluation team used WHO-standard procedures for data collection and analysis in order to evaluate coordination under varied circumstances and response preparedness for public health emergencies.
The accomplishment demonstrates Bahrain‘s dedication to the highest standards of safety and public health at border crossings, strengthening regional collaboration within the GCC to safeguard health and improve health security.
