Manama, February 16 (BNA): Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak emphasized that national efforts to execute the National Action Plan for Carbon Neutrality, which was declared by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, are moving quickly forward. In support of the country’s goal to double the number of trees and increase Bahrain’s green cover by 2035, he pointed out that the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has accelerated the afforestation plan, guaranteed the sustainability of natural resources, and improved the effectiveness of environmental initiatives.

In order to improve ecological balance and the urban landscape throughout the Kingdom, Minister Al Mubarak praised His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s oversight of the afforestation plan and the “Bahrain Mangrove” initiative. He highlighted the start of the second phase, which aims to plant 100,000 Ghaf trees, which are resilient to a variety of climatic conditions.

Additionally, he praised the UAE Embassy in Bahrain and the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment for strengthening bilateral cooperation by advancing joint efforts in environmental sustainability and climate action, and he thanked the United Arab Emirates for contributing Ghaf trees to support this second phase.

The initiative, according to UAE Ambassador to Bahrain Fahad Mohammed Salem bin Kardous Al Ameri, highlights the close ties between the two nations, encourages environmental cooperation and sustainable development, and highlights the need for ongoing coordination to accomplish common goals and fortify the strategic partnership.
