Kuwait, September 4 (BNA): Acting Minister of Labor and Minister of Legal Affairs Yousef bin Abdulhussein Khalaf attended the 11th GCC Ministers of Labor meeting, which took place in Kuwait from September 2–4.

The meeting’s main objectives were to evaluate the Committee’s strategic work plan for 2025–2029, advance cooperative GCC labor efforts, and investigate opportunities for GCC nationals to work in a variety of private sector sectors. Along with discussing the problem of irregular foreign labor within member states, participants also looked at effective programs for hiring and training domestic workforces.
In addition to establishing a working group to formulate recommendations on labor-related elements of national climate change policies, such as a possible framework for a just transition and green jobs, ministers also approved efforts under the GCC framework for occupational safety and health. In October 2026, Bahrain will preside over the Committee’s twelfth meeting.
Three Bahraini enterprises were honored on the sidelines of the meeting for their outstanding efforts in small company initiatives and workforce development in the GCC. Green Innova was acknowledged as Bahrain’s top small business, and NASEEJ B.S.C. and Zain-Bahrain were honored for their accomplishments in employment localization.
