Industry Ministry, UNIDO announce regional centre of excellence for prosthetics and rehabilitation in Bahrain
International decision-makers, investors, and entrepreneurs attended the World Forum on Entrepreneurship and Investment (2026), which was hosted under the patronage of Crown Prince and Prime Minister His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
In accordance with the Industrial Sector Strategy (2022–2026), the center seeks to promote the growth of specialized and high-value businesses, especially sophisticated medical manufacturing. It will boost Bahrain’s industrial sector’s competitiveness both domestically and globally, develop industrial value chains, and aid in economic diversification.
By encouraging research and development, hastening the deployment of cutting-edge technologies, and bolstering the industrial innovation ecosystem, the project also supports the National Innovation Strategy (2025–2035).
In order to increase product quality and production efficiency, the center will concentrate on creating prostheses and offering cutting-edge rehabilitation services using digital manufacturing technologies including artificial intelligence, 3D printing, and digital data management.
The initiative will strengthen the Kingdom’s position as a regional hub for advanced medical industries, support knowledge transfer, develop national capabilities, and draw specialized investments, according to Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce. He said the initiative reflects Bahrain’s commitment to future industries and innovation-driven manufacturing.
According to UNIDO Director General Gerd Müller, the center supports UNIDO’s mission to promote inclusive and sustainable industrial development while serving as a practical example of how to connect industrial development with humanitarian goals. It also reflects Bahrain’s leadership in implementing cutting-edge industrial technologies.
